In my former life as a CPA, I came to dread the month of January. Rarely did I ever see the light of day as I worked 70+ hour weeks in some client’s cubicle or conference room somewhere. Now that I have a business of my own, I love the flexibility it affords me (especially in January) to travel whenever my kiddos are out of school. This month we had a long weekend due to the Martin Luther King holiday, so we took a little road trip to visit my family down in Florida. It is important to me that my girls have a strong relationship with their grandparents, and it is doubly special because each time we go they get to spend precious time with their great-grandmother. The kids are spoiled, of course, with sweets, trips to the movies, toys, special field trips to the park, but these are memories with family that I know they will cherish for a lifetime.
