Welcome everyone! This project was inspired by Maria Alexandra Vettese and Stephanie Congdon Barnes, coauthors of A Year of Mornings: 3191 Miles apart and bloggers of 3191 Miles Apart. I had attempted a 365 Project in the past but failed halfway through, partially because there was no accountability! My husband Charley gamely looked at my photographs with waning attention until July, summer vacation began, the kids were out of school, and my focus just drifted. No one cared if I continued to post photographs every day.
I also wanted to ensure that I was capturing the little things in my life. With busy schedules and a household constantly moving in different directions, it was a rare moment that I turned the camera on my own dear family life. As I pored over this book, I felt slightly voyeuristic, but I actually wrote a story about these two women in my head: I knew what they had eaten for breakfast, what shoes they wore that day, what dish detergent they used, the color of their pets’ fur and children’s hair . . . I wanted to document this for MYSELF, for OUR life, so that we could look back and remember the little, precious things in life. My hope is to create an album of all these images at the end of 2013.
Each week I will post a summary of images from my week (Monday-Friday). I’d LOVE some encouragement to keep this project going (like a gym buddy), so please leave your comments below. Thanks!
