Destination Shoots {Charleston Senior Session}

If you have been living under a rock, then you might not know that Charleston has been rated the number one city in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure magazine for the SEVENTH year in a row. There’s really no wondering why: the architecture, the history, the food, the culture, the landscape, the shopping, the weather. It’s an incredibly photogenic city with the juxtaposition of historic pastel Rainbow Row just steps from the waterfront, blooming azaleas tucked behind artfully-crafted wrought iron gates and charming cobblestone streets . . . which makes it the perfect location for a Charleston senior session.

What I absolutely LOVE about this city is the amount of variety that can be found within just a blocks. Every season I spend time walking around and scouting different neighborhoods at different times of the day – it’s always changing! The light at different times of the year peeks out above rooftops or gives an alley that gorgeous golden glow. Residents are forever swapping out their window box gardens with show-stopping blooms. Sometimes folks decide to change their home’s color scheme or renovate their building facade. Parking along the streets is always a toss-up: sometimes we get lucky and there’s no car in front of that amazing building. I also know when it’s trash day (who wants ugly bright blue trash cans in their photographs?!) 😉.

If you are lucky enough to live here, the city is your oyster – there are innumerable options for backdrops when it comes to finding the perfect location for your session. If you DON’T, have you considered traveling for a Charleston senior session? Over my career as a photographer I have worked with many folks who come to our fair city on a family vacation or hold their weddings here. But destination senior sessions are really gaining in popularity. It gives you the opportunity to have something COMPLETELY different than all of your friends!

I don’t know about you, but I don’t often get the opportunity to spend a whole lot of time one-on-one with my mom – life can be so crazy-busy with all of the daily things we have going on. Consider what a special experience a mother-daughter weekend would be, spending time together just months before college. And whether your style is urban, boho, beachy or elegant, Charleston definitely has something for you. I’d love to help you document this special time in your life – contact me to help plan your Charleston senior session today!
