Well, another personal post for me (birthday portrait session for my eldest), but since I was attempting a new focusing technique I figured it was best to experiment on my OWN family! My firstborn will be EIGHT this week, and I can hardly believe it. Truthfully, all the big milestones seem to happen at once: back to school, daughter #2 birthday, daughter #1 birthday . . . it’s enough to age me overnight.
Since I was trying my hand at back button focusing AND I wanted to memorialize my oldest’s birthday with a portrait (the bane of my kids’ existence in perpetuity, or as long as they live under my roof!), we decided to make an evening of it. Between school, dance, piano, work, and volunteering, it’s a rare alone moment the two of us share. We took a lovely walk on the beach just before a rainstorm and then shared a brownie sundae at our local ice cream shop, Cafe Medley (had to sweeten the deal for her – these pics were not HER idea after all). Even if not for the photos, it’s an evening I’ll remember fondly with my so-grown-up-baby-girl.
