Well, it’s been a rough holiday break at our house. We had two with the flu, one sinus infection, a back flare-up, and a partridge in a pear tree. Add to that nonstop gloom and rainy weather and you have the recipe for a not-quite-as-fun-as-planned holiday break. While not catastrophic, it wasn’t exactly the way we had envisioned our two week holiday. However, I always look to the New Year as a time for fresh starts. Sure, I’ll probably try to exercise more and eat less junk food (who’s NOT?!), but my real resolution this year is to grow in my field. I’ve signed up for several courses and workshops already and cannot wait to absorb new things. My problem is that I can be kind of lazy when it comes to photographing my own family.
On New Year’s Eve (with my hubby in the bed with a bad back and I with the mother of all head colds), I decided to haul out my studio lighting setup and do a fun shoot with my daughter (who rarely thinks that my ideas are all that fun). However, even a tween feels like a million bucks with a LBD!! A party dress, makeup and hair, confetti and balloons turned our dreary, rainy, cabin-fevered home into a sweet little New Year’s party! We didn’t have any champagne, and we didn’t even make it to 10:00 PM, but we surely did have a little fun and I started the year off with some fabulous images of my own sweetie.
