The Keenan-Gerrald Family: Carolina Girls at the Beach

I love my job and the fact that it allows me to meet people from all over the country.  As Charleston (and Isle of Palms, specifically) is a huge beach destination, it brings in vacationing families from all corners of the U.S.  This sweet family was in town to celebrate a milestone birthday and had decided to commemorate their trip with some family portraits (an heirloom gift I highly recommend).  Allison had coordinated this session as a gift for her mother, and we instantly hit it off when we chatted over the phone to plan the shoot.  It was only after we met in person and started comparing notes that we realized that we had both been at UNC together, and even had mutual friends!  It really is a small world . . .

The Keenan family usually spends some time in the summer on the beach at Isle of Palms, but their plans were postponed until the fall with the arrival of darling baby Gracyn in July (who, also, coincidentally happens to share MY birthday!).  Fall weather is an iffy time in the Lowcountry – it can be freezing one day and balmy the next – so we weren’t sure how the weather would actually play out for a seaside session.  Thankfully the sunset was stunning, and it was even warm enough to stick some baby toes in the surf.  What a special evening spent with these Carolina girls at the beach (and their handsome men, too!).
