Knoxville Girls Weekend

This August I traveled to Tennessee to meet with two of my very favorite photografriends for a very fun Knoxville girls weekend.  Why Knoxville?  Well, it was the most central location for Allison of Allison Carpenter Photography in Birmingham, Alabama; Susan of Susan Willis Photography in Murphysboro, Illinois; and me in Charleston.  I had never been there before, so I was up for an adventure.  Hey, it’s a big college town – surely there’s fun to be had!

Susan had done all the planning beforehand so that we could turn this gathering into a legitimate portfolio-building event.  She scouted locations on GoogleMaps (brilliant idea, using the street view) and secured a model for us to shoot.  We hiked up and down the city and found some gem locations.  Well, the model totally stood us up!  Lesson learned – always have a backup plan.

Allison graciously offered to stand in (literally!) so that we could make use of our location-scouting.  You’d never know that this thirty-something mother of three young children isn’t actually a senior in high school – she made a fabulous substitute!  I think it’s her flawless skin and fabulous style . . .
