New Year’s Polar Plunge {Sullivan’s Island, SC Lifestyle Photography}

Happy New Year to all of my loyal blog followers!  Thirteen happens to be my lucky number, so I am hoping for amazing things this year for all of us 🙂

Here on Sullivan’s Island, we celebrate January first with a plunge into the Atlantic during Dunleavy’s Pub’s Polar Plunge (sponsoring the Special Olympics).  Thus far, I’ve only gone to OBSERVE the crazies who fling themselves headlong into the waves.  I had planned to take my own dip this year, but have been feeling a little under the weather, so observer and documenter I was once again.

The title would have one believe that it’s a frigid ordeal, but today the sea was a balmy 73 degrees and the air temp a little cooler at 63.  I may have missed my window for a Plunge in the tropical temperatures, but SOMEONE had to be the towel carrier, right?  The hubs and my little one had the best time!  Not photographed is my eldest daughter who is practical like her mother, and had no desire to set one toe into water less than 80 degrees.
