Try to say that five times fast!
Yesterday I had the chance to travel back to our old neighborhood in Fort Mill to meet up and visit with some of our dear friends and former neighbors for some photography fun. My friend Deb, who is also very passionate about photography, had recently gotten a new camera and I was going to give her a quick tutorial on her new D7000, which is the camera I am currently using. The plan was to chat a little, have lunch, go out to the Greenway (a beautiful and versatile shooting venue) for some fun shooting and new headshots, have a treat at the Cupcake Wars contender Cupcrazed Cakery (all I have to say is YUM!! – thank goodness this place wasn’t around back when we lived there or I’d be in trouble), teach each other our favorite Lightroom tricks-of-the-trade, and just talk photography.
Truthfully there was more girl-talk and catching up (okay, and admittedly EATING) than actual shooting since a major winter storm rolled in that afternoon. It was frigid and wet, so we spent most of the day inside. Unexpectedly as I was leaving, it started to POUR snow – it literally covered the ground in minutes! For this Florida/Carolina girl, it was quite a sight. So, of course we both grabbed our cameras as her kiddos danced in their very first snowfall.
Aside from a particularly hairy drive home on the highway (we Southerners have no clue how to drive in a little snow, much less a LOT of snow, and I think that the states of North and South Carolina share one snow plow between them), it was a wonderful day immersed in some my very favorite things: friends, food and photography. Thanks to Deb’s sweet husband Ron for taking a quick snap of the two women who rarely ever get any face time in front of the camera 🙂
