📚 May/June Reads The long, lazy days of summer are my absolute fave time of year to pick up a book. I love to stay up late and just get lost in a good read. 1️⃣ Women of Good Fortune - Oceans 11 meets Crazy Rich Asians. Loved it, though I did expect the ending to be a LITTLE happier. 2️⃣ Just for the Summer - two singles with a dating curse meet each other and try to reverse the curse and find the love of their lives. This summer fling was heavy at times but I thought it was a perfect beach read. 3️⃣ Flores and Miss Paula - an examination of the mother-daughter relationship and the realization that the bridge between them was the husband/father who passed away. A bittersweet look at how love can be complicated because of generational differences, and yet love endures. 4️⃣ Five Bad Deeds - creepy suspense that keeps you guessing about each of characters and wondering who you can actually trust. 5️⃣ Frozen River - not a beach read due to the setting (frozen winter of Maine in 1789) but a captivating historical fiction about a midwife and her role in helping to solve a murder. I was really surprised how respected this woman was for her time and just how much she knew about all the private business of her neighbors. Highly recommend! 6️⃣ Kill for Me Kill for You - thrilled! Two strangers make a pact to exact revenge for each other on the men who destroyed their lives. But someone isn’t telling the whole truth. Couldn’t put it down! 7️⃣ Room on Rue Amelie - I love everything I’ve read from Kristin Harmel. This WWII historic fiction follows newlywed American Ruby as she follows her French husband into Paris in 1939, her Jewish neighbor Charlotte, and a downed RAF pilot through the tumult of the war and its aftermath.
