The Hasty Ladies {Isle of Palms Family Photography}

Isle of Palms Family Photography

As someone who focuses a good deal on Isle of Palms family photography, I have had the joy of meeting many different types of families over the years. I’d say the majority are vacationers who are spending a summer week at the beach with extended family. Most locals (if given the choice) try to avoid the heat, humidity and crowds of summer beach sessions! However, when your baby is about to leave our beautiful Lowcountry landscape for college, a summer beach session can be just the thing!

I have known the Hasty ladies for many years through our Tapio dance family. Ann-Ray invited me to photograph her with her daughters just before her oldest, Graysen, headed away to Wake Forest for her freshman year. As a mother with a new high schooler myself, I know how quickly time flies and how important it is to capture these moments. And especially to appear in photographs with your own kids! We had such a beautiful night at our Isle of Palms beach session. However, it was a little bittersweet knowing it would be one of the last evenings they would all spend together for a while . . .

Even though my oldest is only beginning her freshman year, I was getting a little emotional during this session. The countdown is on to the day that she will move away to college, and I felt that so acutely during my session with these ladies. It really made me stop and make a vow to savor all the time that we have left together as a family.

We left the beach as the sun went down, sweaty and covered in sand. But I am so happy that I was able to share this moment with these lovely ladies, to capture them with the breeze in their hair and surrounding one another with so much love.
