The Jones Family: Photographing the Photographer

Molly Jones (of Mo Jones Photography) and I met up this past year the usual modern way – through the internet.  Self-employment has its definite perks, but water cooler conversation and understanding coworkers are not one of them!  To make up for the lack of office camaraderie, I have spent some time making photografriends through online photography forums.  I happened to find Molly through Clickin’ Moms, and I reached out to her to set up a blind date.  It was amazing to discover all that we have in common, and we’ve been friends ever since.

Due with her fourth little one this winter, she asked me if I wouldn’t mind doing a family session with her crew, just the way they are as a family of five. Photographing the photographer can be a daunting challenge – when you work with a talent in your field, you KNOW they KNOW what YOU KNOW. We’ve chatted about our strengths and weaknesses, our pet peeves, and the things that make us giddy.

But I was so delighted and honored that she chose me to document this moment in their family’s history.  Being the family of a professional photographer, her kiddos and hubby were spot-on pros themselves, and they made my job an absolute joy.  Congratulations to the Jones Family – I cannot wait to meet the little bambino (bambina?) soon!
