There are so many ways to showcase your family’s portraits, it’s hard to know where to start! Albums are a traditional way to display a large collection of photographs, and they’ve been around so long that they don’t need much in the way of explanation. An album is literally your story book! They don’t take up much room on a shelf so that you can add new volumes over time. They can be displayed beautifully on a coffee table for family and visitors to peruse, and there are SO MANY OPTIONS in terms of cover finish and size to suit your design style.
The Luxe Album: Cover Choices
Let’s start with album covers – you can select linen, leather or acrylic. Linen and leather are reminiscent of beautiful old books. They are classic covers that stand the test of time.
The leather covers are made of genuine Italian grain full leather. They are moisture-resistant (definitely a more durable choice for families with small children) and age beautifully with a rich patina.
The leather and linen covers can be left blank or foil-embossed with your family’s name in the center of the front cover.
Alternately, an acrylic cover is a custom, modern way to make a statement! Your selected image is mounted under acrylic on the front and wrapped with your choice of leather on the side and back. It is a very popular choice with high school seniors.
The Luxe Album: Sizes
Albums come in 12×12 or 10×10 square configurations, or a vertical 8×10 size if that suits the layout of your images best (I use this most often with single subjects that have a lot of vertically-shot images).
The interior is lined with textured white end-leaf pages and is comprised of thick, luxuriously matte photographic paper pages (which eliminate distracting glare). The number of images you can include is nearly unlimited!
Companion Album Options
Companion albums are smaller identical copies of the original album, and they make fantastic gifts for grandparents or duplicates for other family members.
Albums are beautifully simple from start to finish!
