Kiawah Island Resort Family Photography
This is just a follow up to Andrea’s early-summer sneak peek. Kiawah Island is one of my favorite Lowcountry getaways . . . that it is not even an hour from my house makes it all the more amazing. I don’t need much prodding to head down that winding stretch of oak-lined road through John’s Island to paradise, and when Andrea contacted me for her Kiawah Island Resort family session I jumped at the opportunity. Not only had I not seen her since college, I was so excited to meet her hubby and kiddos, too! Summertime in Kiawah is just beautiful – the lovely wooded sidewalks, the vast sandy stretches of beach, the quiet solitude (well, except for the one other photographer on the beach who was trying to wrangle an extended family of more than 20 members, we had the whole beach to ourselves).
Beach sessions with children under the age of five usually end the same way – with the kids sticking one toe in the water and then somehow ending the session completely submerged. These two spitfires were absolutely no exception, and once wet they decided to show me their really fun personalities. It was tough to pull them out of the waves when bedtime rolled around. Every one of us left the beach with wet pants and sandy hair, but that is the sign of a truly fun and relaxed beach session. I love when parents just let the kids GO and do their thing and not worry about looking at the camera or fixing hair. The goal is to have a great time while capturing REAL personalities. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
