Boone Hall Plantation | Mt. Pleasant, SC Family Photographer
I am always so honored when friends who have moved away come back to visit Charleston and ask me to document their families. Kelli and I have been friends for almost as long as I’ve lived in the Lowcountry. Our children are of similar ages, and we were in the same Moms Club when they were younger, so we spent lots of time together over playdates.
We really bonded when we were roped into a half-marathon by a mutual friend, and then spent lots of time training together for our girls’ weekend races in Disney World and New Orleans. After a personal best sub 2-hour finish, I decided to quit while I was ahead and hung up my running shoes. Kelli was bitten by the bug, however, and when she moved out to Northern California two years ago she really took her training to a new level. These days, I can’t imagine keeping up with this IronMan triathlete (!!) and marathoner.
But this past summer she brought her family back to the Isle of Palms for some well-deserved R&R. We had a girls’ night out to catch up over wine and delicious Italian food (definitely more my speed), and we had a family session at one of my favorite locations around, Boone Hall Plantation. The zinnias were amazing on the day we were there, and the kids had some fun horsing around near the barn. It was so wonderful to spend a morning with the Wunderlichs, and I cannot wait for them to come back next summer!
