For some reason, it just felt like a black and white week. It was another busy one in our house, so all of these except for one was and Instagram shot (holy cow, can you tell which one?!). I’ve had such packed full weekends with weddings and holiday sessions that it’s been challenging to take my camera out during the week. My poor cramped hand needed a break.
I love a good black and white image – it captures the emotion of a moment without the distraction of color. It showcases graphic shapes and shadows. I’ve always felt drawn to the classic masters of black and white (well, of course there was no color film in those days): Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Dorothea Lange. In no way am I comparing my work to any of these artists (especially nothing taken with a camera phone!), but they do endlessly inspire me.
