Yes, ladies and gentlemen, summertime is finally here! I’m fairly certain that we skipped spring altogether and dove headlong into our sultry, sticky Charleston summer. I suppose that all my months of longing for warmth finally paid off all at one time 🙂 It’s been a busy few weeks in the Hamrick household: my little one graduated from kindergarten with a fantastic performance of “First Grade, First Grade!” to the tune of “New York, New York” (sniff, sniff), we took our first summer vacation on the road to Washington DC (with required stopover at South of the Border, of course, for a peek at Pedro before hitting the highlights of Mount Vernon, the U.S. Capitol, and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History), the thermometer hit the 100-mark (a moment after I snapped my daily pic), and the bounty of South Carolina arrived at the Farmers’ Market. Ripe, juicy peaches are my very favorite part of summer . . . particularly when they’re baked into a cobbler and covered in vanilla ice cream.
Hoping your summer’s gotten off to a fabulous start, too.
