I met this darling duo last fall for a sunset session at the beach, and I couldn’t believe how much Sophia had grown in just a few short months! She is on the verge of losing that first tooth (that first step out of “baby” and into “big kid” that makes all of us mothers boohoo), and Monica wanted to be sure to capture her only child before she said farewell to babyhood. That is why I was so delighted when Monica called me to do a mom and me spring session – not only did I get the chance to capture Sophia just as she is at the most awesome age of FIVE (truly one of my very favorite ages to shoot), I was also able to capture some sweet mother-daughter moments that don’t often happen when MOM is the one behind the camera all the time. We spent a balmy evening strolling around the historic streets of downtown Charleston and chatted about Frozen (of course), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (they’re back?) and how glasses are VERY cool (I loved her brand-spanking-new purple specs!). We pretended to be birds, did some jumping jacks, and stopped to smell the roses. I’m pretty sure that I have the best job ever.
