If you haven’t already given it some thought, now is the time to start selecting your dress for graduation – insanely, it is less than three months away! All the spring fashions have arrived, and if you want to have your pick of sizes and options, you need to start shopping for your white dresses for graduation NOW.
Now, it’s not the tradition at EVERY school, but wearing a white dress for graduation is pretty much the norm around the country. And with everyone at your school searching for the exact same thing, you want to make sure that you don’t look just like everyone else.
There are definitely some things to consider when selecting your dress:
- first of all, it’s probably going to be HOT at your May/June graduation, so make sure to select fabrics like cotton or linen that will breathe (especially if you’re wearing it underneath a polyester gown)
- next, consider your school’s dress code if they have one – if you attend a conservative school like mine do there may be restrictions on how much skin can be showing (not necessarily an issue if wearing under a gown)
- finally, think about the longevity of the dress and when you may wear it again – if you plan on joining a sorority in college there will definitely be events where you’ll need to be dressed in white
